Aspect of Heartwood - Dot 3 - Shatter
The character expends aura to cause some nearby timber to shatter, exploding shards and causing chaos.
|Requires||A sufficient amount of timber.
Level 1: A staff, heavy stick, length of four by two.
Level 2: A timber box, bundle of firewood
Level 3: A wooden door, table, piece of furniture
Level 4: Wooden floor of a room, medium sized tree, a large post
|Cost||Aura equal to the desired level of effect, (see threshold table).|
|Range||Target timber must be within 1m per level of effect from the character|
|Roll||[Intelligence + Craft + Effect Level (up to aspect) ]|
|Effect||The target object splits and or shatters explosively, depending on number of successes.|
|Effect||The shards explode outwards up to [1m per effect level] away from the shattered object. The character picks which rough direction the shards explode in (away, toward, up, down, all around, etc). Roll a ranged attack using dice equal to number of shatter successes against each person within the area of the explosion. All people within the explosion area are attacked, including friendlies and yourself. The shards deal lethal damage.|
|Note||A higher level shatter effect can be used on an insufficient amount of timber. In this case the range to target object, and the number of dice used in the shatter roll itself are determined by effect level, but the explosion range is determined by the a level correlating to the amount of timber exploded. The damage roll may also be penalized or capped (storyteller’s discretion) due to an insufficient amount of timber.|
